Adam Reigner, producer at WIP, lists some other things he would like to say goodbye to during this bye week.
There comes a point in life when, for better or worse, you simply have to say goodbye. Whether it’s to old ideas, traditions, or people, it just becomes apparent that its time to move on. Some people posses the ability to easily turn the page while others hold on to the comforts of yesterday.
During this bye week, I felt it necessary to take a look at a couple of things that I’m saying goodbye to in the world of football.
Andy Reid. You’re a bully with nothing behind it. My old man always told me the best way to get a bully is to punch him right in the gut and watch them collapse like an accordion. Thanks for proving him right Shady.
Ronnie Brown.
Brian Westbrook being the greatest Eagles running back that I have ever seen. LeSean McCoy has shown me week in and week out that he is more than capable of being not only the best back I’ve seen in Eagle green, but the best back in the NFL period. Can’t wait for that contract dispute — stay strong Howie.
The notion that the Eagles will resign DeSean Jackson. I love the kid and think he makes this offense go no matter if he has two catches or 12, but the front office doesn’t seem to agree. They always sign the players they want to keep before they reach free agency, and, sadly, DeSean remains unsigned.
Asante Samuel coming back next year. Now to be fair to the Eagles, they never publicly shopped Asante and they never DIDN’T. It’s pretty clear that just like Desean he doesn’t fit into their long-term plan. You have to wonder if a couple more loses and both of these guys don’t become a concern in the locker room. I know personally if I was working somewhere and they showed me they didn’t want me I would mail it in everyday.
Donovan McNabb as a starting quarterback. There is nothing that hasn’t been said about this guy. Sure we had some good times together, but I will always remember the bad. It’s just human nature. Last Sunday night when the camera flashed up into the crowd and Wilma was sitting there I actually felt bad for her. Only for a split second. It has to be gut wrenching to watch your son lose his youth in a mere matter of months.
The Detroit Lions being the scrap heap of the NFL. Count me on the bandwagon, watching the Lions roar back into contention is the exact reason why the NFL is the best sport. Tell me exactly how the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to be in the playoffs next year. Mark my words — the Lions will be playing the 49ers the first week of the playoffs as a Wild Card.
Tom Brady is the best QB in the game. Aaron Rogers has taken that title from him. Sure Rogers hasn’t won as many Super Bowls as Brady, and sure he doesn’t have the smoking hot wife — but I’ll take Rogers any day of the week. I’m not taking anything away from Brady, but the way that Rogers is manipulating a defense right now I have never seen anything like it.
On a much lighter note, The Sopranos as the greatest television show in history. I highly recommend that you go download season one of Breaking Bad. Week after week this show outdoes itself. As a matter of fact, why are you still reading this? It’s a bye week — go check your fantasy score, and get started on Breaking Bad. You’ll thank me later.

On the subject of Desean, if the Eagles decide to put the franchise tag on him for next season—WATCH OUT! After playing the good soldier this season in hopes of a new deal (I laughed when WIP’s Rob Ellis predicted Desean would be resigned before the season opener, I never thought that would happen), the kid will positively go nuclear if he gets franchised. The Birds pick and choose their favorites very carefully when it comes to resigning players, and I fear Desean is not high on their list of priorities. Bottom line, this will not end well.
Great stuff but I already watched Breaking Bad. I wonder if we can get the Cartell to come and get FF and take him back to Mehico.
All I remember about the “Sopranos” is how excited I used to be BEFORE every episode, and how disappointed I was AFTER many episodes. Agree 100% about “Breaking Bad”. Got in on the show right before season 2 started, I have season 1 on DVD if anyone is interested. Also, I said goodbye today to any respect I had for Mike Ditka. Ripped the Raiders for the Carson Palmer trade, saying the Raiders gave up too much. Really, Mike? You, of all people?
Breaking bad is by far my favorite tv show. The season finale was amazing!
Meh! I stopped watching scripted dramas well over a decade ago. Wanna get my motor running? Let’s talk about The First 48, How It’s Made, Top Gear or Mythbusters! ^_^ Meanwhile, I’m saying goodbye to all the ridiculous hype about Tim Tebow who’s currently being punked, and shutout by the winless, “Suck For Luck” Dolphins. Talk about pathetic!
