Heh.

What does a desperate city and fan base do to TAKE BACK THEIR OWN PARK (!!!)

Everything they can.

They offer free tickets. Give unused seats to military members. And, it seems, take that presumably owed reach-around from the local mayor by having him proclaim the most ridiculous of things.

Mayor Molestache’s photo just reeks of douchey politico who would issue a proclamation for something as lame as Natitude Weekend. Text enlarged, it reads:

The last line is perfect: “join me in celebrating the return of Major League Baseball to our nation’s capital.”

That Nationals (Expos) moved to Washington in 2005.

Something tells me this is going to backfire horribly on the Nats. In fact, as pointed out by Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post, Nats COO Andrew Feffer admitted in a Wall Street Journal article (in which yours truly was quoted) that having Phillies fans, well, takeover on Sunday night would be hugely embarrassing:

The Sunday night game will be nationally televised, and Mr. Feffer acknowledges it would be a huge embarrassment if the crowd were dominated by Philadelphia supporters.

Yes it would be.

  5. If this mayor was any kind of mayor he would keep out of this. He is setting the stage on what could be a huge battle royal. Taunting people from another city is not a wise way to rule over your people.
Then again, it’s DC. What the hell am I’m I talking about, civilized. lol

  6. He looks like a pedophile

“A recent study estimated that the infection rate in DC is three percent, the highest in the US. To put that figure in perspective, the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization consider a one percent infection rate as the threshold for a severe epidemic.”
If you’re heading to DC, make sure you don’t get AIDS.

  9. PA native. Now live in northern Virginia. Going to hit up these “Take Back Our Park” tickets this weekend. Will be rocking the Phils gear. Hahaha, suckers.

  10. glad to see Kyle has reached his quota of at least one hate-filled post dealing with the Nationals for the day.
Hey Kyle, do you dislike the Nationals? Because, you know, I can’t really tell.

  12. YAWN, who the F cares about the Nats Kyle, let it rest. Take over their park all you want, the Nats are in 1st and the Phillies aren’t.
The Phils won’t even make the playoffs this year.

  13. im pretty sure natitude is copyrighted by natural light

  14. This is a true story. I got a text from a friend of mine who had 2 tickets for Sunday nights game. Tenth row…the mayor’s seats!

  15. Shouldn’t he be focusing on making sure people don’t get murdered in view of the White House and stuff?

This mayor really shot for the stars.. “My dream in life is to run Washington DC.” Doh! It must suck to be overshadowed by the president.

  18. I knew a girl once who they wanted to run for mayor in D.C. Smartest girl I knew, thats why I put a baby in her

  19. Last line is wrong. “Yes, it would be” should be “Yes, it will be.” They can’t sell that stadium out for anything. Not sure they ever will, either.
