I already like this guy. And is it just me, or does he look like Catherine who just won The Bachelor

In under two minutes, new Eagles cornerback Cary Williams managed to take both a gentle swipe at Nnamdi Asomugha and dismiss a silly question from Howard Eskin, who is having an awful start to this, the year 2013.

Asked whom he’s tried to emulate, Williams answered thusly:

“Um, ya’ll might not like this, but I model myself after Nnamdi. He didn’t have much success here, but I don’t plan on, you know, going down that path. I’ve always seen myself as him because he’s a taller, leaner guy and a guy that I actually liked with a skill set. When he was in Oakland, everybody in here knows he was a force out there. And as a guy growing up watching the guy, that’s the guy who I watched, was Nnamdi. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to duplicate that success here, but I plan on doing otherwise.”

A chuckling and bumbling Eskin chimed in:

The fans… are very vocal… now that you’ve connected yourself to Nnamdi… you know at the end what happened…

“I don’t think I connected myself at all. I just said it was a guy that I looked at in his particular successful time. I didn’t say he was one of the high guys that I looked at this year.”

“He was just a guy that I happened to like. So if you take me as a joke, then you take me as a joke, I don’t care. I’m here to win games and help my team win games as best as I can, and I’m going to go out there an put on a performance each and every week.”

In the feed from the Eagles' website, you can hear someone – what sounds like it could be Dave Spadaro – whisper, “I like it,” as Williams finished up his comment. And you know what? I like it too.

Video after the jump.
