I love this. Apparently after a week of being taunted by LeSean McCoy that he was an “old man,” Michael Vick challenged his running back to a foot race, a good old fashioned foot race, a duel, a dogfight, a feat of athleticism. Bully! And he won:

I’m not sure if that says more about Vick not being old… or McCoy spending his offseason on a beach bitching with his baby mama instead of working out. We’ll err on the side of Vick still having something left in the tank, for now. [Here comes a Tweet about Muscle Pharm in 3..2..1.]

Pro Football Talk provides a bit more details on the showdown:

But there’s more to the story, which we’ve obtained from a league source with knowledge of the situation.

McCoy had been riding Vick for weeks, calling him “old man” and challenging Vick to a footrace.  Vick had been laughing it off, until today.

Today, Vick had enough.  So he asked coach Chip Kelly if he could accept McCoy’s invitation.  Kelly agreed.

Nice to see the Eagles showing some signs of life and – bonus! – it’s relevant to Chip Kelly’s up-tempo offense! Now, if only Jimmy Rollins and Ben Revere would challenge each other to, you know, DO SOMETHING, we’d have two teams in this town that acted like they gave two shits.

UPDATE: GAH! Just when I thought this friendly bout was a wonderful show of sportsmanship, McCoy becomes a sore loser and goes and claims Vick cheated… like several times he does:

Is there no sanctity in the good old fashioned foot race anymore? I hate everything about everything.
