Tim Thomas is expected to announce his return to hockey, and guess what team is the perfect fit?

The Orange and Black, of course.

Thomas’ agent said that he has been asked to explore options for his client, and there is already some speculation from hockey folks on Twitter that the Flyers may have made a pitch to Thomas last week.

The Flyers seem content with Steve Mason as the goalie of the future, so Thomas, at 39, might be a good 1-2 year option. He took a year off – which is weird – but led the Bruins to a Stanley Cup just two years ago. Oh, and both he and Ed Snider hate Obama… so that will help.

Meanwhile, today Snider admitted that paying a Russian $39 million for two years of service was a mistake.

Lock it here on Friday for our (now) annual Flyers free agency running commentary.
