This is totally unexpected. Comcast-Spectacor, the parent company that owns the Flyers, has announced that President and COO Peter Luukko has resigned from his position after 25 years with the company.

According to Frank Seravalli, Luukko wanted to “monetize his interest in the company” (read: sell his Comcast stock and become so much richer than you) and “pursue other entrepreneurial interests.”

Dave Scott, the former vice president at Comcast’s cable division, will serve as acting president.

The timing seems weird, because many assumed – most likely correctly – that Luukko was running the team on a day-to-day basis for Ed Snider.

And, of course, Tim Panaccio and Sam Carchidi managed to promote Scott to PRESIDENT OF ALL OF COMCAST:

Scott will be the president of Comcast-Spectacor, a subsidiary of Comcast. Big difference.
