After getting all high and mighty on himself and attempting to choke the only thing resembling a bright spot for the Nationals, Jonathan Papelbon, a large and noted A-hole, will not return to the team for the rest of the season.

First, Papelbon will rescind his appeal of the MLB’s three-game suspension for plunking Manny Machado. Then, he’ll serve a four-game ban handed down by the Nationals for, you know, choking their best player. This is all the more weird since Harper was benched after the altercation and Papelbon was sent back out to pitch.

Ruben Amaro Jr. may not have done many great things here, but sending clubhouse poison Papelbon to the surging Nationals just in time to implode their season was some Bond-villain level brilliance. POWERS enjoyed it:
