Rather than put all Villanova roundup thoughts into one long piece, which will delay its posting, I’ll do each section as an individual, short snippet for ease of reading and clicks.

It’ll be Villanova and Kansas, at 8:49 p.m. Saturday night, for a chance to go to the Final Four. I like Nova’s chances. I think Jay Wright is a better coach than Bill Self and his what appears to be horrid, horrid hairpiece (and in-depth piece on Self’s “hair”). This opinion was yet again met with feigned outrage on the Twitters last night. I’d refer those who take issue with it to read my great Jay Wright-Bill Self debate. But I’ll also add: Wright is 2-2 vs. Kansas and Self during his time at Nova. Kansas was ranked higher than Villanova all four times they played (I’m pretty sure Villanova was unranked every time), and yet they split the four games.

Villanova lost at Kansas during the 2003-2004 season and then pummeled them at the Wachovia Center during the following season in what was then seen as Villanova’s coming out party. [I’m doing this all from memory.]

Villanova lost to Kansas – AS A 12 SEED (Kansas was a one seed) – in the 2008 Sweet 16. And they beat them in the semifinal of the Battle 4 Atlantis – thanks to Ryan Arcidiacono’s last-second shot – in 2013.

Both times Jay beat Self and Kansas, the Rock Chalk Jay Hawks and their stupid chant were ranked second in the country.

I guess you can say the game on Saturday will be the rubber match to decide who is truly the better coach.

Oh, and Villanova is opening as only a 2.5-3 point underdog. Let’s see where that line goes. Wouldn’t be shocked if it came down to a push.

More coming.
