It’s mid-June, so you know what that means: It’s “way too early NFL rankings” time! We’re still about three months away from any meaningful NFL snap being played, and weeks away from the start of positional battles. But that didn’t stop ESPN’s Bill Barnwell from ranking the Eagles‘ top QB/RB/WR trio as the third worst in the NFL:

You could make a case that this group should include tight end Zach Ertz over either Mathews or, um, Matthews, but the offense’s relative strength is depth as opposed to top-level talent. New coach Doug Pederson has useful second-tier weapons such as Ertz and Darren Sproles, and it’s too early to count out 2015 first-rounder Nelson Agholor, who struggled through his rookie season with a high ankle sprain. There are three viable starters at quarterback, but the problem is that none of the three options — Bradford, Chase Daniel and rookie Carson Wentz — would project to be above average if given the reins in 2016. Philly will need its offensive line to return to form and its front seven to stay healthy to take a leap forward during Pederson’s first season.

There’s a debate about at least two of these three players (Bradford’s job isn’t super secure and Doug Pederson will likely use more running-back-by-committee), but maybe that’s why they ranked so low. That, and the fact that they’re not really that great. The only trios the birds sit ahead of are the Browns (obviously) and Chip Kelly’s Blaine Gabbert/Carlos Hyde/Torrey Smith group. At least Doug can hang his hat on that, or that none of these rankings matter.
