First came the report that Philly was “expected to host” the 2017 draft, then came Bob Brady’s inability to keep his mouth shut, and then comes the official announcement: According to “two independent sources with knowledge of the league’s plans,” NJ.com is reporting the official announcement of the 2017 Draft in Philly will come either next Tuesday or the Tuesday after. The report also says reps from the NFL Network were doing some location scouting earlier this month.

There is no confirmation from league sources on Brady’s report that the whole thing would take place outside on the Parkway (not only does having the draft outside feel like a logistical nightmare, it doesn’t make much sense. Are all the players and their agents and families gonna be at folding tables on some turf laid out on the blacktop, while fans stand behind them for hours?), and presumably decided on a location could be what’s holding things up.

Again, as you’ll hear for roughly the next 10 months, the Eagles don’t have a first round pick in 2017.

Kyle: This is the perfect month to be doing location scouting given the fact that basically eveyr major media outlet in the country is doing live broadcasts from Philly. Also, I think it’s hilarious how we just do everything on the Parkway, but I don’t think it would be the logistical cluterfuckalroy Jim thinks it would be. They had The Pope there. I’m sure they could figure out a way to host a football draft. But I’d vote for the Wells Fargo Center– April in Philly can be miserable, and obviously The Well is more than capable. DON’T OVERTHINK THIS.
