Uh oh, well this could be a problem for the corrupt Brazilian authorities smearing Ryan Lochte’s… uh… good(?) name. The Today Show visited the bathroom Lochte supposedly vandalized. Yet the only sign of “vandalism” was an outline on a wall where it appears an advertisement was once present. The bathroom, where Lochte supposedly broke a mirror and other things? Well, nothing is broken. The mirror is neither broken nor new. Meaning that if Lochte did break the mirror, as Brazilian authorities claim, it was replaced with a mirror that appears to be 20 yards old. Never mind the fact that the gas station never produced photos of the damage that was done.

Once again, I can’t believe I am in the unexpected position of defending Ryan Lochte. But, uh, where’s the damage?

Here’s the video:

You can see there are at least two bathrooms, but according to NBC correspondent Keir Simmons, there were no signs of vandalism other than the missing sign. In the particular bathroom they showed, there was no broken mirror. There was, however, some sort of aluminum over the center of the door which wasn’t present on other door:

Is it possible this was some sort of quick fix to an area that Lochte and co. damaged when they tried to break down the door (initial reports involved the door)? Maybe. But if so, no one broke the mirror in that bathroom. And unless Simmons did the worst reporting job ever and didn’t check the other bathrooms, it seems like at least some of the claims about what Lochte did to the bathrooms were exaggerated. Go figure.
