This off-season will be a big one for Bryan Colangelo. He’ll have (likely) two lottery picks, a half-year of Simmons and year of Embiid growth, and tons of cap space. There’s a lot he can do, and one option Zach Lowe says they’ll explore is… former Sixer Jrue Holiday:

That would leave only Sacramento, Philadelphia, New York, and perhaps Orlando as big-money suitors in dire need of a point guard. The Sixers will take a hard look at Holiday, sources say; he fits what they need around Ben Simmons, and the hilariousness of Philly bringing Holiday back after flipping him to start The Process is irresistible.

That’s true. Sam Hinkie’s very first move as GM was to trade Jrue Holiday for the rights to Nerlens Noel and a pick (which was then traded for Dario Saric and their own 2017 1st rounder back). And as Jake Pavorsky points out, Holiday is a good fit with Simmons as your primary ballhandler. He can “create looks for himself or knock down shots as a spot-up shooter,” and is top ten in the NBA in assists.

He’s had his injury issues – he’s played more than 40 games for the Pelicans just once – but Holiday really could be the archetype for the type of off-ball guard you want to put around Ben Simmons. Trust the process.
