The Phillies officially announced the long-known (and longer rumored) addition of John Kruk to the broadcast booth today. In his opening presser, Kruk gave a glimpse of what fans can expect from him on the air. He’ll be honest, he’ll be blunt, and he might be late because he got lost.

First thing he likes about the new gig? It’s more casual:

Kruk also explained one of his reasons he’s glad he’s not as ESPN anymore, and it’s because people wouldn’t stop calling his damn phone (transcript via CSN):

“If I say this I’m going to get in trouble, but I’ll say it anyway. Me? I’m not big on meetings. We had a lot of them up there [at ESPN]. A whole bunch. Incessant phone calls. I didn’t answer most. Pretty rude when somebody’s hitting to answer your phone when you’re playing golf.”

Kruk will be doing 90 games this season on TV if he can find the booth, explaining that he “really sucks” at finding his way around the stadium.

There’s a very real chance Jason Kelce will be gone this offseason, so what better everyman to replace him in our hearts than one of the O.G.s?
