The Flyers throwing the old summer holiday weekend timing on this press release (IT NEVER FAILS):

Nolan Patrick will not be participating in the on ice portion of next week’s development camp. Nolan had abdominal surgery on June 13th which related to his injury he dealt with this past season. The surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers. Nolan will be able to resume full activity in 4-6 weeks from the date of surgery.

So exactly 10 days before they drafted him.

If you’ll recall, I posted last week that the Flyers remained very concerned about his injuries:

A little birdie tells me that the Flyers are “extremely concerned” about Patrick’s injury history and really want Nico to fall to them at number two. No one knows what the Devils are going to do, but recent reports have them taking Nico. That possibility might have led to the loosely-sourced report that the Flyers could trade back and send the number two pick to Vegas in exchange for what could perhaps be a slew of draft picks Vegas obtains through expansion draft agreements to avoid certain unprotected players.

Now, should I post all of the OB trolls who abused me for a good 24 hours after the draft calling my post bullshit, or should I note that maybe the Flyers’ concern, and the fact that Nico all of a sudden hopped Nolan on draft boards, had something to do with the fact that he had yet another hernia surgery (his second) for an injury that was initially misdiagnosed – it was thought to be complications from the hernia surgery he had on the other side last year – and that he hid from teams until earlier this month which no one said anything about it until… today? I don’t know why you’d read any other site!
