According to Mike Silva's NY Baseball Digest (worthwhile reading when you put aside the rooting interest), one Yankees source said this about Werth and the Yankees:

"They’ve been coveting him for more than two years now, just like they
have with Cliffy (Cliff Lee), and feel that he would be the perfect fit
in right field.  I know a lot of people have been talking about Crawford
for next year, but I’m telling you now, if Werth is a free agent next
off-season, Brian (Cashman) will make him a priority."

None of this is exactly shocking, but Werth and Lee?  Boy, would that rip our hearts out and stomp on them too…

The Phillies need to keep Werth, it's that simple.  He is the lone right-handed power threat in the lineup, and since Raul's career looks like it's winding down, Jayson becomes that much more important in the outfield.

The Phillies traded Lee this off-season to recoup salary and re-stock the farm system after they emptied it for Halladay.  That was the type of move a team like the Yankees would never do in a year where they could win the World Series.  And now, the re-stocking effort is backfiring.  The Phils just sent the Phillippe Aumont, the key cog in the deal, down to Single – A.  He was 1-6 with a 7.43 ERA this season in Reading.

If you want to talk the talk, you have to walk the walk.  The Phillies already mis-stepped once by letting Lee go, they can't do the same with Werth.
