He could have signed with Nike and had his shoes by foreign workers in deplorable conditions. Instead, he signed with Li Ning and will have his shoes made by foreign workers in deplorable conditions.

Turner has become the first rookie to sign a shoe deal with the Chinese company.  And believe me when I say, nothing speaks to the Chinese people like a black guy from Chicago who talks like a Muppet.  Nothing.

For serious- Li Ning, founded by a Chinese gymnast of the same name, wants to become a global brand, and so does Turner.  This opportunity allows Li-Ning to partner with a potential NBA star and it allows Turner to get his own shoe right off the bat- a luxury not typically afforded to NBA rookies.  Although, this season he will wear a generic sneaker, while the details of his custom shoe are hammered out.

So that's right kids, come 2011 you can get your own Evan Turner Li-Ning kicks.  Because no one knows basketball like the Chinese.

Yay globalization.

Next up, Jeff Carter ice skates from Tanzania.

Video after the jump.
