The Daily News and Philly Sports Daily are both reporting that the Sixers have contaced the Denver Nuggets regarding a trade for Carmelo Anthony.  But it is a longshot that such a deal would ever go through.

Anthony, whose contract expires at the end of the season, does not have Philadelphia on the short list of teams that he would be willing to accept a trade to.  Chicago and New York reportedly top that list.

Stephen A. Smith, NBA insider extraordinaire, weighs in: [Philly Sports Daily]

A well-connected league source said the Sixers have been speaking with the Nuggets about potential trade scenarios and that Denver is interested because they badly want Andre Iguodala. The Sixers will jump at the opportunity to land Anthony, but only for themselves. The source said they are not interested in facilitating a multi-team deal.

As much as both teams may want to get such a deal done, Anthony would likely have to agree to signing a long-term contract in Philly for a deal to get done.

And that doesn't look like it's happening any time soon, unless other potential trades completely fall through.
