Ruben Amaro continues to put the finishing touches on the 2012 Phillies. Today, he rounded out the roster by signing Juan Pierre to a minor league deal, then crossed a T by reaching an agreement with Hunter Pence on a $10.4 million salary for this upcoming season, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman

Pence, who will avoid arbitration, made $6.9 million last year, so he gets a considerable raise… and will have plenty of funds to, you guessed it, eat. He originally filed for $11.8 million arbitration, and the Phillies filed for $9 million. $10.4 million is smack-dab in the middle…

To give you an idea of Pence’s value last year, here’s a chart from BaseballPlayerSalaries.com. I have no idea how scientific it is, but it does show you just how god-awful the Astros were:

With the raise, though, Pence’s value will obviously come down a bit.
