In case you needed (or wanted) more evidence that Jerry Sandusky is one of the worst people on earth, NBC was contacted by Pennsylvania prosecution about using the transcript of un-aired portions of Bob Costas’ interview with Sandusky from back in November.

The particular part that interests the prosecution is this one: [transcript via CentreDaily.com]

JERRY SANDUSKY:

I have worked with many, many young people where there has been no misinterpretation of my actions and I have made a very significant difference in their lives.

BOB COSTAS:

But isn't what you're just describing the classic MO of many pedophiles? And that is that they gain the trust of young people, they don't necessarily abuse every young person. There were hundreds, if not thousands of young boys you came into contact with, but there are allegations that at least eight of them were victimized. Many people believe there are more to come. So it's entirely possible that you could've helped young boy A in some way that was not objectionable while horribly taking advantage of young boy B, C, D, and E. Isn't that possible?

JERRY SANDUSKY:

Well — you might think that. I don't know. (LAUGHS) In terms of — my relationship with so many, many young people. I would — I would guess that there are many young people who would come forward. Many more young people who would come forward and say that my methods and — and what I had done for them made a very positive impact on their life. And I didn't go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I've helped. There are many that I didn't have — I hardly had any contact with who I have helped in many, many ways.

While you have to make a mild leap from “I didn’t go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs” to “I raped some of them, though,” it’s hardly a stretch. And it’s now something which really interests the prosecution.

Also, how in the hell does NBC edit something like that out?

Meanwhile, in the land of the lost, the worst lawyer in the world, Joe Amendola, called some character witnesses for his client today. Problem: the character witnesses in this child molestation case are also former Penn State coaches who shower with children:

And from StateCollege.com:

Booker T. Brooks was the second former Penn State football assistant coach to testify for the defense. He moved back to State College after several years in other coaching positions.

“When you work with a person over several years, 14 hours a day, you get to know a person,” Brooks said of his tenure with Sandusky.

“Jerry is well-known, certainly in the coaching world,” Brooks said.  “Top-notch, words come to mind like that.”

Brooks also testified that showering with boys was a normal occurrence, both when he was a boy and as a coach.

Brooks told the court he brings his granddaughter to the local Y.M.C.A, and, as she is not old enough to be alone in a locker room, he takes her in with him.

“We go in and we shower and I put dry clothes on her,” he said.

Doh! Hate it when my child rape character witnesses shower with their granddaughters at the local YMCA.
