Not that we really give two shits about this guaranteed-to-be-blown-out-of-proportion story on a day in which Paul Holmgren pistol-whipped the Nashville Predators in his quest to obtain Shea Weber and his you can fire it all. over. me. slap shot… but, we must mention it.

In an interview with Eagles homeboy Derrick Gunn on CSN Philly* as part of his media tour to a promote an upcoming book, Michael Vick uttered the D-word. No, not dog. Not dong. Not Dallas. Dynasty. He said dynasty.

The full quote: [CSN Philly]

"When I look at our football team and what we have on paper, I think about when I was growing up and the great San Francisco 49er teams, the great Green Bay Packer teams, and the great Dallas Cowboy teams, how they just positioned themselves to compete and be one of the best teams out there. I think we have a chance to be that. I think we have a chance to develop a dynasty."

Eh. It’s going to be stripped out of context. It’s all local radio stations are talking about today. ESPN is on its nut. I’m sure some dog zealots are taking issue with it, too.

Don’t get me wrong, it was a silly thing to say. Vick has never won a playoff game with the Eagles. Eli Manning (two-time champ) is in the division. Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees are in the conference. The Eagles, as a franchise, have never won a Super Bowl. Talking about developing a dynasty is, like, step 88 in the process of what the Eagles need to do here.

Eagles beat reporter Tim McManus, speaking to Tony Bruno and Harry Mayes today, put it best– (paraphrasing) The Eagles spent all offseason cultivating this “lunch pale” image of being humble and earning respect. Vick using the "dynasty" word throws that all out the window.

That’s the biggest problem with Vick’s comment. It, again, puts a needless target on the Eagles’ back. Vick should just shut up, stop plugging his phony book, and win some football games. Then we’ll talk about dy one Super Bowl. One.

Watch the video after the jump.

*Anyone else find it odd that Vick is doing satellite interviews with hometown media while he's out talking to folks like Matt Lauer and Piers Morgan? Like, the local folks don't even rate, so they have to get the hometown quarterback via satellite. That's kind of sad… for the local media.
