Very sad news. Andy Reid’s son, Garrett, 29, was found dead in his dorm room at Lehigh this morning at around 7:20 a.m., Howie Roseman told the media. No foul play is suspected and the coroner said an investigation is ongoing.

Garrett had several run-ins with the law, all relating to drug use. In 2009, he was sent back to prison after flunking a drug test. It’s important to note that there’s no official cause of death, however. Garrett was in Lehigh for training camp, where he was assisting Eagles strength and conditioning coaches.

Andy, who encouraged the Eagles to continue camp, was absent from practice this morning, fueling speculation among beat writers over his whereabouts. Players were instructed not to speak to reporters after their walkthrough. Roseman addressed the media a few moments later.

Jeffrey Lurie released a statement: "This news is heartbreaking for everyone in the Eagles family. Our hearts go out to Andy, his wife, Tammy, and their children."

The Eagles announced that Marty Mornhinweg and Juan Castillo will oversee the team until Andy’s return.

Dave Spadaro tweeted that practice will go on as scheduled today at 2:30.

You can watch Roseman’s tearful press conference after the jump.

Our thoughts go out to the Reid family.
