Frightening.

There’s not much more commentary to add to this. Happ was down for a good five minutes as trainers and EMTs worked on him. There appeared to be some blood coming from his ear area. He was moving a bit and gave a small wave to the crowd on his way off the field. There isn’t much information on his condition, but the latest update from the AP says he’s stable: [ESPN]

The Blue Jays said the pitcher was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was alert and undergoing tests, manager John Gibbons said.

Nursing supervisor Natasha Keller told The Associated Press that Happ had been admitted to the hospital and was in stable condition.

“I think the last indication was that he was alert and feeling better and had gone for a CT scan. That’s the last I heard,” Toronto pitcher R.A. Dickey said.

We wish him the best.

UPDATEHapp released a statement:

“I’m in good spirits. I definitely appreciate the support of the baseball community. It’s been overwhelming, the messages and kind words I’ve been getting. I just want to thank everyone for that. And I look forward to getting back out there soon.”

Good stuff.

UPDATE 2: The Blue Jays say Happ sustained a head contusion and a laceration to his ear. He will be released from the hospital today.
