An old mug shot of the guy who is now dead

Oh good news, those of you worried about going to a sporting event in San Francisco because you might get dead– Giants fans only use their knives in self-defense.

From the San Francisco Gate— they spoke with the father of the accused… who spoke with his son:

At first the spat was between the person making the insults and Montgomery’s [the accused] friend, who was wearing a Giants baseball cap, but it quickly escalated, said the elder Montgomery, who also lives in Lodi.

“Someone said ‘S.F. sucks,’ or whatever, and the kid with the Giants hat said something to the effect that ‘No, they’re the stuff,’ or whatever, and then the altercation really broke out,” he said.

No, they’re the stuff? What, was they’re the bee’s knees already taken?

“Someone swung a chair – it was the kid that got stabbed – and hit my son in the head. My son defended himself,” said Montgomery, 47. “That’s all it was. Everybody’s making it look like it was a team rivalry, but really it was two kids walking.”

Michael Montgomery was arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of homicide. “He’s freaking out because someone is dead,” the elder Montgomery said. “He is a nice kid. This is really stupid what happened. I don’t understand.”

Two basic questions:

1) Why are you carrying a knife?

2) WHERE DID SOMEONE FIND A STEEL CHAIR BAHWGOD?

From the Mercury News:

Denver [the deceased] is the son of a Dodgers security guard, team officials said Thursday, and had attended the game with his father and three others. They left during the 8th inning and went to a nearby bar.

Upon leaving the bar, Denver and his group walked northbound on Harrison Street near Third Street, about six blocks away from the park, when at about 11:30 p.m. they encountered a group of people, one of whom was wearing a Giants cap, Suhr said. The second group had not attended the Giants game that night, and instead were out at a nightclub.

The two groups exchanged words about the Dodgers and Giants rivalry and a fight broke out. The melee eventually broke up, but minutes later, the two groups crossed paths again, and a second fight ensued.

And that’s when Denver was stabbed and killed.

This is why the Dodgers-Giants rivalry is just the worst. It’s thugs vs. criminals. And compounding problem is the fact that most of these people aren’t even fans. They don’t go to games because they love their team… they go (or don’t go) because it’s a good place to get drunk and yell shit at opposing fans:

“My son and his friends weren’t even in town for the game, they were going to a rave party,” said Martin Montgomery. The group consisted of two men and two women.

“My son is a Giants fan, but he’s not an avid fan,” he said. “Mostly he’ll watch on TV.”

They were “in town” for a rave and carrying a knives and got into a fight with Dodgers fans leaving the game. What nice kids.
