Voila_Capture202Justin Rose is trying to crowbar his way into my Adam Scott man crush by hanging out in the Philly area.

After winning the US Open at Merion, JR, as they call him, headed out to Gypsy Saloon in West Conshohocken to celebrate with his Taylor Swifty wife. And it seems that Rose enjoyed himself so much in the Philly area that him and his friends decided to hold their annual golf getaway this year in our fine city of brothers loving brothers.

The JR Challenge, the 2013 edition of which was held in Philly last week, is an annual outing amongst Rose and his UK friends [nicknames]: Macca, Sparky, Yoners, CA, Fash, Brandino, Big Dick, Georgie Boy, Daws, Northy, and Pikey. It’s the same sort of golf weekend you have with your friends, only if one of your friends won the US Open and you played at courses like Pine Valley, Merion, Aronimink and Somerset Hills.

Rose and his buddies have a website, JRChallenge.com, dedicated to chronicling their adventures. Previous locales include South Africa, Orlando, Las Vegas, Bahamas, Northern Ireland, and Long Island. From the sounds of some of their Tweets, Rose foots the bill for the excursions.

This year, he lost his own challenge to his brother-in-law Northy and his 18-stroke handicap:

Mike North defied the odds and scooped golf’s biggest prize yesterday as he became the 2013 JR Challenge Champion.  The Blonde Bristol Bandit scored a tied best of the day 31 points to beat brother-in-law JR by a single shot in the overall standings.  The stunning Somerset Hills was the setting for the final day where the JRC stars had to tackle lightening fast greens with severe slopes as well as big hangovers from a night out in Philly.  Despite pre-tournament lack of form the 18 handicapper avoided too many wayward shots and injured no one en-route to his famous victory over the US Open champion.  A full write up of the whole tour will follow and please see the photos section to see more errrr photos!  We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who made the trip possible.  There are too many to name all individually but the generosity of John Stoddard III and the members of Pine Valley, Merion and Somerset Hills who hosted and played with us was humbling….and of course a huge thank you to the man himself, Justin Rose.  His generosity showed no bounds and it was an absolute honor to share his Merion memories with him and witness first hand how proud the US public are to have him as their Open Champion.  A week the JRC boys will never forget…..now roll on JRC14!!!

You can see more photos from their week in Philly here. Pretty cool.
