I'm Andy Reid's parting gift, ask me anything!

I’m Andy Reid’s parting gift, ask me anything!

The Eagles are 5-5 and tied for first place with a big home game against the Redskins looming next week. They end the season on the road, at Dallas, with a chance to control their own destiny in case the teams are tied going into the final week. Nick Foles has put together the best two-week QB rating ever, in the history of Forever and Always Taylor Swift, of all-time. He’s one week away from becoming the Eagles’ quarterback of the future. We’re not there yet, but getting close. He doesn’t make mistakes and has a good arm. Flash in the pans usually only have one or the other. Foles has both.

That’s your good news.

Now, the other news: The last four quarterbacks the Eagles have faced are Terrelle Pryor, Matt McGloin, Seneca Wallace and Scott Tolzien. Frighteningly enough, Tolzien may be the best of that bunch. The Raiders are a joke and the Packers were without their best player. The last time the Eagles played the Cowboys, they embarrassed themselves. They haven’t won at home in roughly 400 days.

Let’s hit it!

But first, a word from our sponsors:

Boykin. Meet Brandon Boykin and Mychal Kendricks at the Sports Vault in the King of Prussia Mall on Wednesday, November 20 from 7 – 8 p.m. Details and tickets here.

Great seats. I bought tickets at the last minute on Friday night for $63 for the Flyers-Oilers using Crossing Broad Tickets. I sat here:

The roundup:

DeSean Jackson says fans can’t boo the Eagles next week:

“We gotta get it going. We gotta get back in the swing of things at home,” Jackson said Sunday. “Our fans deserve it, things like that. So, hopefully, we can collect something together, figure out what it is and just win in front of our home fans.

“But there’s gotta be support. We can’t be coming into the game, first quarter, getting boos and all that type of stuff. [The fans] just gotta work with us throughout the game.

“I think as long as everybody is doing their job and doing what they need to do, we’ll be all right.”

Cue the faux outrage!

I actually don’t have a problem with that. DeSean’s backed up his talk this year and had another good game yesterday. And he’s right– the Eagles, at 5-5, have at least earned one game from overreaction boos stemming from a three-and-out. If it’s 24-0? Sure, boo. But if it’s 7-7 in the second quarter and the Eagles are struggling on offense? Stick with it. WE ACTUALLY HAVE A FIRST PLACE TEAM IN PHILADELPHIA– don’t look at the gift horse’s gums sitch… just embrace it, ride it, at least for a week. YA HERR MEH?

Did Tom McCarthy shout about the Eagles yesterday? He did. He was the radio broadcaster for Westwood One, the radio network that everyone knows by name but has no idea what they actually do.

Jay Glazer’s interview with Richie Incognito. I couldn’t be any more over this story.

Jamie Moyer’s wife has launched a website for spouses in sports to gather and talk about how rich they are and if they should just put up with the cheating. [I am not implying Jamie Moyer cheats on his wife. I’m speaking generally.]

Bill Simmons calls former Flyer Tom Sestito, “Richie IncogSestito”:

Bryz on his way to Atlanta, presumably for some conditioning work before joining the Oilers and their awful goaltenders:

A bunch of people told me I ruined the Eagles’ season by posting that Riley Cooper video. And now, articles like this:

Out of nowhere, out of an incident that could have torn the Eagles apart before Chip Kelly had coached his first game, Cooper has emerged as perhaps the most pleasant surprise of their season: 28 receptions; seven touchdowns; a gaudy 19.8 yards per catch; and, most important, a group of teammates who were willing to accept him again.

“I’m so proud of him,” wide receiver Jason Avant said. “Only he and I know some of the conversations we’ve had or some of the things that transpired that could have had him down. But he’s definitely overcome a lot of things.”

Season status: not ruined.

John Cena pooped himself in the ring once.

Giants fans booed a dog. But we booed Santa Claus that one time 407 years ago.

A bartender stabbed patrons during a brawl in West Philly.

Manning face, sort of.

A lot of people traded in Andrew Bynum jerseys for a chance to boo him.

Kacie McDonnell and Aaron Murrary– who knew?

Shocked at how genuinely sweet and nice all the comments are on Murray’s Instagram. Not one vulgar one. Meanwhile, if I post a headshot of someone even resembling a female, at least two commenters will offer her cunnilingus.

I love the military gear players and coaches wore yesterday, especially this baby:

Finally, the story Chip Kelly told the team in the hotel on Saturday, as told by Najee Goode to Eagles 24/7:

A New York businessman who has fallen on hard times walks into Central Park and takes a seat on a bench next to an old man. Eventually he proceeds to tell the old man about his struggles.

After listening to his story, the old man gets out his check book and writes the businessman a check for $500,000.

“Take this, and kindly pay me back in one year,” said the old man. “Your business will be fine.”

On the check read the name: Warren Buffet.

The businessman put the check in a safe and went about building his business back up. It was a success and he never touched the money. After a year he went to return the check to the old man, who was accompanied by a nurse.

“I’m glad you didn’t try and cash that check,” the nurse said. “This old man is from a nursing home. He sometimes dresses up and pretends he is Warren Buffet but he is really not.”

Did Chip Kelly do something unconventional today? He did.

The logo: The overwhelming majority of you voted for a contest to design a new one. We might do that, but it will take some time (a few days) to plan and organize, if that’s what we wind up doing. For now, we stripped down the original logo to make it a bit simpler and cleaner. I think it looks much better.
