Voila_Capture 2014-02-24_09-46-56_AMThis will be the least sexy thing I’ll write this week: You can bid on Don Tollefson’s stuff and a Ford Explorer when the contents of the disgraced sportscaster’s storage unit at a North Columbus Boulevard Public Storage get put up for auction at 11:30 a.m. today.

Tollefson, who was unable to pay $25k bond last week and was sent to a Bucks County prison, was, of course, also unable to pay the bill on his storage unit despite allegedly stealing over $100k from unsuspecting local sports fans. From Philly.com:

Detectives were looking for “any evidence of the crime or evidence that he kept the proceeds of his illegal activity” at the Public Storage facility located at 456 N. Columbus Blvd., said Ryan Hyde, a deputy district attorney.

Hyde wouldn’t say if authorities took anything from the units.

The contents of the units and the Explorer are being put up for auction this morning at the storage facility. The auctions are held when units go into delinquency because their owners fail to pay rent during a two-and-a-half-month period.

Anyone can bid on the content of the units and the vehicle.

Wonder if he kept any of the supposedly-stolen-memorabilia-that-sounds-more-like-it-was-hidden-as-part-of-insurance-fraud* in his storage unit? Or, maybe:

We’ll find out soon.

UPDATE: I’m speechless:

The first locker largely appeared to contain trash. It was packed with cardboard boxes and plastic bags, with broken glass covering the floor. The other had a plaque honoring Tollefson, lamps and other home decorations, among other items.

The blue Blazer, which bore an old “press” sticker on its cracked windshield, sold for $100.

Cool.

UPDATE 2: Victor Fiorillo of Philly Mag was there and came away with…

We found some blank checks belonging to Winning Ways Education out of North Carolina. We found a mostly empty jar of Progresso white clam sauce. And we found a bunch of packs of stirrup socks, one of which I now own. My wife says they’re cute.

He has some photos here.
