THE MADNESS CONTINUED ON DAY 2 OF GAMES! ONCE AGAIN THE 12 SEEDS BROUGHT THEIR SHOES TO THE DANCE! GLEN MACNOW, THE ONLY 12 SEED TO BE FAVORED COMING INTO HIS MATCHUP, THROTTLED IKE REESE, 66-34. OVER IN THE WRITERS REGIONS, JIMMY KEMPSKI MOUNTED AN IMPRESSIVE SECOND HALF COMEBACK, KNOCKING OFF THE SLIGHTLY FAVORED 5 SEED, REUBEN FRANK, 55-45. OVER THE IN 97.5 REGION, 5 SEED SEAN BRACE BARELY HUNG ON AGAINST THE UPSTART 12, MATT MARTUCCI, WHO MAY HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED BY HIS TRIP TO BUFFALO TO CALL THE ST. JOE’S HAWKS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT. THE ONLY 5 SEED TO TRULY TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS WAS LESLIE GUDEL, WHO BEAT VAI SIKAHEMA, 58-42.

It was all about the 12s on Day 2, but there were still some interesting results in the 4-13 matchups. Ray Didinger, who got no respect from the selection committee, took it to Michael Barkann’s radio persona and came away with a resounding 82-18 win! It’ll be interesting to see how this affects TV Barkann in his second round matchup with a dangerous Dei Lynam. Meanwhile, Jon Marks, Sheil Kapadia and Amy Fadool all took care of their opponents. Fadool remains a real dark horse and true threat to Barkann and John Clark in the TV Region.

This sets up a Macnow-R. Diddy Round 2 match (it also essentially tells WIP management that people would probably prefer to hear veterans Macnow and Didinger in the daytime over Barkann and Reese…).

Sean Brace survived a real scare from Matt Martucci. He’ll look to bounce back with a spirited effort against longtime partner Jon Marks. Well-placed sources expect this matchup to collapse the comments section.

Kempski-Kapadia is a matchup of two new school Eagles reporters well on their way up. You figure Kapadia will have the edge, but don’t discount Kempski’s fight. He mounted an impressive comeback to knock off Reuben Frank in their first round matchup.

On to Day 3 matchups– the 6-11, 3-14 games. Tim McManus and Howard Eskin will each pull double-duty today. Organizers have yet to comment on this scheduling quirk.
