YOUR BRACKETS HAVE BEEN BUSTED! THEY’VE BEEN BUSTED WIDE OPEN! WE HAVE OUR FIRST SHOCKER OF THE FIELD OF 64. A FINAL FOUR CONTENDER, MAYBE EVEN A FAVORITE, HAS BEEN TAKEN DOWN IN THE FIRST ROUND. JOHN CLARK LOSES TO COLLEEN WOLFE, THE 15 SEED, BY A HEALTHY MARGIN, 59-41. DUNK CITY! DUNK CITY! THE NATION HAS A NEW SWEETHEART, AND IT’S A BLONDE FROM FOX. SHE’S THE BELLE OF THE BALL!

Absolute pandemonium yesterday in the thus far quiet TV Region. John Clark, expected to content for the title, struggled to find a rhythm with the male-heavy audience and got beat soundly by Colleen Wolfe. I didn’t see it coming. I expected it to be a battle. Colleen was the strongest 15. But no way did I see Clark losing. He’s one of the few high seeds, perhaps along with Todd Zolecki, who doesn’t really have detractors. He doesn’t get the hate vote. No one hates Johnny Sunshine! He should’ve marched into the second weekend on his airport game alone. These weren’t votes against Clark, they were votes for Wolfe. She deserves them, I just didn’t see Clark losing.

We now have four blondes remaining in the TV Region and concern is mounting that this could turn into a beauty pageant with the aforementioned male audience. At some point, though, the girls in the TV Region will cannibalize each other, and if one comes out, they’ll be forced to contend with a heavy-hitter in the Final Four or championship. That said, Wolfe took it to Clark. So a precedent has been established. Anything can happen right now. Absolutely anything. It’s Madness, baby!

Rob Ellis and Al Morganti cruised to victories on Day 4. The most interesting matchup of the second round, by far, is Macnow-Didinger.

Tony Bruno and Jason Myrtetus took care of business. Neither game was ever in doubt. But again, the 4-5, Marks-Brace matchup is the one to watch in Round 2.

I’m still in shock. Brackets are busted all over the Delaware Valley.

Writers Region

Good game in the 7-10 between Frank Seravalli and Zach Berman. Seravalli benefitted from being pretty much the only decent full-time Flyers traveling beat writer. Berman is in a tough mix with Tim McManus, Sheil Kapadia and Reuben Frank when it comes to Eagles writers.
