Pictured above, last year’s pre-game festivities. And as we mentioned last week, this year’s will look something like the video below (but without all the Cavaliers stuff):

The Sixers officially announced the purchase of the projection technology, and now we know more of what it will all entail. According to Max Rappaport at Sixers.com:

The Sixers plan to use the technology during the national anthem and pregame introductions, as well as during some halftime shows. The projection system is also capable of displaying up-to-the-second information and interacting with users on the court, a feature that Sixers Live Events Manager Derrick Hayes said fans will see at some point in the future.

I can’t even imagine how over-the-top and amazingly patriotic that National Anthem projection is going to be. I can already hear the call of a proud bald eagle. The projection system consists of eight projectors that are will be installed throughout the arena to turn the whole court into a canvas. And it’s rigorous work. Rappaport also reports that the video, created by Quince Imaging and The Famous Group, will take roughly 45 days to complete, and will synchronize video boards throughout the arena with the projection system. And if those 45 days are completed on schedule, that means the whole thing will be ready to go with just about two weeks to go before the season, a full two years ahead of when the team will be ready.
