Kimmo Timonen Will Skate for the First Time in Eight Months today

Back in August, news came out that Kimmo Timonen had blood clots in his leg and lungs and would not be able to skate or play hockey without putting his life in danger. It was a scary situation for Timonen, who spent the last half-year just hoping to get better so he can finish his career on the ice. And now, that time has come.

According to Delaware Online, Timonen has been cleared to play and will skate on his own for a few weeks, starting today. He’s not all better though, as “the clots in his lungs are gone, but the clot in his leg is chronic, yet stable.” And that’s the best news.

The 39-year-old Timonen has already said this is his final season, and he just wants to “leave this game with my skates on.” He’ll get that chance.
