Ruben Amaro has, presumably, been trying and failing to trade Cole Hamels all off-season. And now that it looks like that ship has sailed, Ruben’s totally cool with Cole starting on opening day. Unless his phone rings in 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 … nope. Still totally cool with it.

“I would expect him to be in spring training with the Phillies,” Amaro told Jayson Stark. “And I would expect him to be our Opening Day starter.”

Then again, anything could happen.

“I don’t know that for sure,” Amaro continued. “That could change in a phone call or two, just like with anyone else.”

And then Ruben hurriedly rebooted his Blackberry and checked to make sure it wasn’t on silent or airplane mode or anything, just so he didn’t miss another chance to not trade Cole Hamels.
