We’re just about three hours out from the NBA trade deadline, and things have been fairly quiet league-wide. One deal that is rapidly heating up, however, may involve the Sixers. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the swami of NBA deals, something is cooking between the Thunder and the Nets. And the Timberwolves. And maybe the Sixers.

The deal, as it looks now, would include “center Kendrick Perkins, forward Perry Jones and [Reggie] Jackson joining the Nets, but Brooklyn is working to gauge the enthusiasm of Jackson about coming to Brooklyn, league sources told Yahoo Sports.” Additionally, the Sixers are being called in because someone’s gotta get dumped:

Minnesota and Philadelphia are part of a broader possible deal, league sources said. The Nets are trying to persuade Kevin Garnett to accept a deal to the Timberwolves, bringing them back Thaddeus Young. The Sixers have interest in acquiring forward Chase Budinger from Minnesota for draft considerations. The Sixers would then buy out Budinger’s deal and allow him to become a free agent.

Oh hey Thad, good to see you again. Bye. The deal’s draw for the Sixers would be to acquire more assets for taking on (and buying out) the contract of a veteran. It’s a move that, by now, should just be called “The Hinkie.” We’ll have more as the day develops.
