The roundup:

Evan Mathis, whose agent has free rein to hunt down an offer for his client, reportedly didn’t get any real interest.

In the rest of the Eagles’ draft weekend, they picked JaCorey Shepherd (Kansas) and Randall Evans (KSU) in the 6th round (both CBs) and 6-foot-9, 295 pound defensive end Brian Mihalik (Boston College). I don’t know Mihalik chances of making the team, but I wouldn’t want to be the QB that has to pass the ball over his head.

The Eagles also signed a bunch of undrafted free agents, including Kip Smith, a punter with the punteriest name.

The Phillies are reportedly “waiting with open arms” for a trade partner to come along, and Ryan Howard has earned his 10-and-5 no-trade rights.

The odds were wrong: Ryne Sandberg was not the first manager fired this year. That honor goes to Ron Roenicke, formerly of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Allen Iverson told Innes and Bruno that the story Matt Barnes told about him dropping $40,000 at strip clubs regularly isn’t true. “I was rich at 21,” Iverson said. “So ain’t no telling what I may have done, but I know I ain’t do that.”

#MayPac wasn’t as bad as everyone is cracking it up to be. Yeah, the fight was a pseudo letdown, mostly because Mayweather is a big puss and dances around the ring for 12 rounds in the boxing equivalent of taking the air out of the ball. But… at least it went 12 rounds, and the entertainment aspect of watching celebs watch boxers was almost worth the $100 alone.

The Jameis Winston era is off to a great start in Tampa. On Friday morning, Winston was told to take down the photo of himself celebrating with crab legs, and today Peter King writes about the Bucs’ detective work on Winston, which didn’t include:

I had one question for Licht. I had this sinking feeling about the Bucs’ investigation into Winston off the field, that the franchise was finding out what it wanted to find out. The Bucs wanted Winston to win the on- and off-field competitions, and would never put him in position to look bad nationally. So why didn’t the Bucs, who talked to more than 75 people as part of the organization’s investigation into Winston’s character, talk to the woman who accused him of attacking her, Erica Kinsman? Did the Bucs just want the investigation to be finished, and to say what the team wanted it to say?

“That’s not the case,” Licht said adamantly. “We are not talking about this now… but we read the depositions. We knew what she was going to say. This was a thorough investigation. We were not going to mistake charisma for character.”

Nice.

A player threw his helmet into the stands and hit a kid at the Soul game this weekend. Grainy photos exist, but if anyone has video of the Portland player hurling his helmet at fans, I’d love to see it.

Keegan Bradley nearly coming to blows with Miguel Angel Jimenez is awesome.

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn are no more.

Mack & Manco owners, charged on 30 counts of tax evasion, allegedly used their untaxed money on lavish expenses:

The court documents show federal investigators traced $770,000 of the unreported funds to credit card charges for personal living expenses that included $40,000 for country club dues and memberships, $76,000 for tuition and tutoring for Charles Bangle’s daughter and $70,000 in vehicle costs.

They also cite credit card charges for travel to Paris, Las Vegas, Hawaii and California, among other locations, with stays in luxury hotels. They also say fees for resort spas were found, along with purchases of high-end watches, jewelry, shoes and accessories, and thousands of dollars of wine shipped regularly from California.

Two things:

1) When I was in college I interviewed for a job with Charles Bangle, who’s being charged along with his wife, Mary, in this case, and when I told him that I had previously worked at Genuardi’s, he said to me, “Oh yeah, I golf with members of the Genuardi’s family.” Yeah, apparently on untaxed income.

2) This is what happens when you run a business out of a cash box.

That said, going to eat the shit out of their pizza Memorial Day weekend.

SNL’s spoof of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was perfect.

Steph Curry.

The Broad Street Run medal is a bottle opener.

The war on live streaming apps marches on:

Eye-for-an-eye: We should get to vote on which bridge the mother who threw her kid off a bridge and into a river (and did the same to herself) should be tossed off of. I say Ben Franklin.

NFL Draft girlfriends.

Chip Kelly with a not-so-thiny-veiled dig at office supply manager and self-appointed spirit squad leader Howie Roseman:

“We got together that first day after [Ed Mayonnaise] got hired and organized the scouts and really integrated our scouts and our coaches,” Kelly said. “I think the group of them did an outstanding job, and if you watched how well our scouts and coaches worked together, it’s unique, I think, in terms of how we do it. But as we look at it, as we’re trying to make the Eagles the best team out there, it can’t be personnel department against coaches, coaches against personnel. You guys coach, we pick. We’re all on the same side, and all we want at the end of the day is the same goal, is we want to win a championship.”

This women left a good job in New York and moved to the Caribbean. That you, Mrs. Paperman?

A much better interview as Derrick Gunn goes GUNN-ON-ONE with Chip Kelly. And this time, it includes the Mariota question.
