Eagles tickets

They go on-sale tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. You probably won’t be able to get any. After they’re all sold out, we’ll show you how to find the best deals on the secondary market using Crossing Broad Tickets. I write in short sentences.

New 97.5 Morning Show

CAUTION: SMALL SAMPLE SIZE ALERT.

The new morning show on 97.5 was on-air for just a few days of the latest month-long ratings release period, so it’s impossible to determine how it fared against the WIP Morning Show in any meaningful way. But, we all like data, and according to one well-placed source, ratings for the first three days, unlike early ratings on Bruno-Innes when they debuted on WIP, show that 97.5 has a long way to go to match its competition– in this case Angelo Cataldi and the morning team on WIP. Here are how the ratings  – among men 25-54 – broke down over the first three days [we can’t post actual ratings data]:

Monday (the morning after Tebow news): WIP more than tripled 97.5 in share (the number of turned on radios tuning in)

Tuesday: Things were a bit closer as 97.5 virtually cut the lead in half and earned a share higher than what Mike and Mike typically got

Wednesday: WIP more than doubled 97.5 in share

For context, the new morning show’s share over the first three days was on-par with Mike and Mike’s final two days on the station.

Again: Small sample size, during a strange week. But it’s worth nothing that the word coming from the 97.5 camp the first week Mike Missanelli went head-to-head with Tony Bruno and Josh Innes was that they expected WIP to see higher than usual ratings as people tuned in to “see what the show was about.” That was the framing I got about Bruno and Innes’ early ratings win in February, with some even claiming that it was an industry norm for new shows to get a bit of a spike in the beginning. So then, it’s at least fair to note the early ratings on the new morning show. Few things, though: 1) There was virtually no promotion for the show. Whether that was due to all details not being finalized until relatively late, budget concerns, or perhaps a contractual inability to promote a show that was going to replace Mike and Mike, is unknown. 97.5 clearly opted for a soft launch, so it’s to be expected that ratings came nowhere close to WIP’s long-running morning show. 2) The numbers are on-par with what Mike and Mike was getting on the station, and I’m hearing they have improved in a meaningful way over the past couple weeks. 3) It’s not surprising that the new show didn’t challenge Cataldi right out of the gate. But now that the show is on, it’ll be 97.5’s challenge to, well, promote the shit out of it, because there are still some out there who don’t know it exists.

This Iverson quote is going around Twitter right now, including in a Tweet from Paul Hembekides, researcher for – of all shows – Mike and Mike. It’s not real. It’s from a satirical section in the City Paper, something first pointed out by our very own hipster, Jim, who, inexplicably, knows the City Paper’s sections the way dads might have intimate familiarity with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition special features sections each year. Jim’s assumption was confirmed by City Paper contributor Dan McQuade– the quote is fake. Potentially accurate, though.

New Comcast Sports Show

From a press release:

The700Level Show,” a popular spin off of the iconic Philadelphia sports blog, will make its television debut on Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m. on The Comcast Network.  CSNPhilly.com’s John Gonzalez hosts this offbeat, sports centric-show with a variety of guests and topics each week.

“Over the past five years, we have grown The700Level brand from a sports blog, to an online show and now to a weekly program on The Comcast Network,” said Comcast SportsNet President Brian Monihan. “This growth is a tribute to its founder Enrico Campitelli, the host John Gonzalez and the entire CSNPhilly.com staff.”

I like Gonzo and think he’s the most talented person to ever be involved with the site, but The 700 Level, as now just a literal page under the CSN umbrella…

Voila_Capture 2015-05-12_03-26-38_PM

… is not so much a blog at this point as it is a lazily-updated keyword tag for off-beat things CSN homogenizes and can’t figure out where else to put. That said, sounds like the show, presumably like its associated video segments, will have it’s own, separate staff. So we’ll give it a shot. Initial airings:

Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m.  and 11:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
