Jahlil Okafor made a big splash on the court last night. He dropped 26 points on 10-for-16 from the floor (and 6-for-6 from the line), along with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks [editor’s note: and 8 turnovers]. That’s the third-highest point total for a rookie’s debut in Sixers history, behind only Allen Iverson and Jerry Stackhouse. Excitement! But on the Dan Patrick Show this morning? Yawn.

While Joel Embiid drinks himself silly on those sweet, sweet Shirleys, Okafor is living perhaps the most plain life of any top draft pick. He’s renting an apartment that he shares with his dog, his sister, and niece. Perhaps not in that order.

If you’re getting tired at work because you’re hitting your wall, this might be a dangerous listen, but it’s good to have Okafor to balance out the pure insanity that is the entire existence of Joel Embiid.

Kyle: If I were a hack, I’d point out that Okafor, who seemed less than thrilled on draft night, didn’t bother investing in real estate in Philly. But I’m not a hack, so therefore I won’t.
