According to Nick Cafardo, the Phillies are set on Matt Klentak as their new general manager. Cool. So, who is he?

Klentak was Andy MacPhail’s “protegé with the Baltimore Orioles, becoming the team’s director of baseball operations in 2008 at the age of only 27.” He played college baseball for four years at Dartmouth before graduating with a degree in economics. He worked in the league’s 2006 CBA – so expect him to have a pretty good grasp of how all of that stuff works, the anti-Ruben in that way. He’s spent the last few years as the assistant GM with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

We’ll update here when it’s official, and check out a poorly filmed interview with Klentak from 2011 after the jump.
