Though Pete Rose has failed in his bid to have his lifetime ban rescinded by Major League Baseball, he’s going in to the Reds Hall of Fame. Rose spent a majority of his career with the Reds (19 years), but he also won a World Series with the Phillies and notched 800+ hits (a mere 19% of his career total) while making four all-star appearances. Those are Phillies Wall of Fame numbers.

But Rose won’t be enshrined, at least not this year. According to Phillies historian Larry Shenk, Rose was not one of a dozen names he and a group of Phillies executives settled on for the fan vote this year. Shenk did tell Matt Gelb, however, that he’d imagine Rose’s name would come up in the future.

Is Pete Rose more of a Reds legend? Yep. If he does make the hall, will he go in with a Phillies hat? Nope. But was he a better Phillie than other wall of famers Pat Burrell and Mike Lieberthal (and his giant cartel mansion)? Absolutely. Plus, I wanna see that bowl cut bronzed.
