Two things:

  1. It’s remarkable how similar Josh Innes’ act is to Howard Stern’s. The common denominator is (was), of course, Andy Bloom. The difference, however, is that 1980s and 1990s America was amenable to these sort of over-the-top, P.T. Barnum-esque publicity stunts. The world today is a different place and celebrates authenticity just as much or more than showmanship.
  2. Also remarkable is that, 26 years later, ratings are estimated in virtually the exact same way. Talk about a lack of progress.
