Each week that passes with Howie Roseman back in charge of the Eagles, a new story magically appears about something heinous that Chip Kelly did. I’m not saying they’re made up, but all of these tales of what Chip did while Howie was learning how to not be bad at his job, are starting to pile up. Next we’ll hear he took a dump on Jeffrey Lurie’s desk. But for today, it’s literally taking all the hard work the scouts did and throwing it in the trash.

According to an anonymous source speaking to Matt Lombardo, the 2014 draft was a coming out party for Chip Kelly the megalomaniac:

“Right before that draft, the scouts set the board,” the person said Tuesday. “Then Chip got a hold of it and totally turned it around. Scouts had no say at all in that draft. Anybody that Chip didn’t want, that player’s card got removed from the board and thrown in the trash. Those guys were never even in the discussion.

“Almost immediately, you had a lot of scouts looking around and wondering, ‘Why am I even working? Why the hell are we even here?’ We put all of this work in, put the information in and Chip changed everything and took whoever he wanted to take.'”

Roseman already claimed that the Marcus Smith pick was his call, though the source doesn’t seem to place it right on Howie’s shoulders. He said things got bad when Howie fired Tom Gamble, which set his and Chip’s relationship off the rails for good.

To a certain extent, the Eagles (and the people working for them) might think that this is a good look– that it put blame squarely on Chip. More than that, it makes Lurie and Roseman look confused and wholly incompetent.
