7:09 p.m.Peter Schrager reports that the Eagles will sign former Bills Linebacker Nigel Bradham. It will be a two-year deal. Bradham is only 26 – another young player – and yet another Bill who played for Jim Schwartz to sign with the Eagles. ?

5:19 p.m.: The Eagles are reportedly still talking with Nolan Carroll II. ?

5:17 p.m.: Albert Breer reports Bradford and Daniel will compete for the starting job. ⛈

4:37 p.m.: Twitter sage Joe Banner on why the Eagles are paying Chase Daniel so much: Eagles are protecting themselves in case Bradford is only a one year guy. ?

4:25 p.m.: Hey, the Broncos need a quarterback… ?

4:24 p.m.: Ergo, they’re overpaying a backup, whether it’s Daniel or Bradford. Howie no longer gets an eggplant. ?

4:23 p.m.: Adam Caplan just told Mike Missanelli that Sam Bradford is not getting traded. ?

4:17 p.m.: Bradford can only get a max of $35 million. Daniel can get more. Is Florio on to something?

?

4:11 p.m.: The Dolphins trade is official. ?

4:08 p.m.: Adam Caplan:

Earlier, Mike Florio wrote:

Per a source with knowledge of the deal, the first $5.5 million installment of Bradford’s $11 million signing bonus isn’t due until March 18, 2016. The second is due on or before September 1, 2016. So the Eagles have yet to pay Bradford a penny; they could transfer his entire contract to a new team.

It’s not unusual for contracts to contain a lag between the signing of a contract and the payment of the signing bonus. But with the Eagles reportedly reaching a deal with quarterback Chase Daniel and with the terms of Daniel’s deal on complete and total lockdown until 4:00 p.m. ET at the earliest, it’s entirely possible that the Eagles will do what Bradford feared they’d do if he had signed an extension after arriving via trade a year ago — abruptly flip him to another team, like the Browns or the Texans or the 49ers.

?

4:04 p.m.: This is a lot of money for a backup. Either Doug Pederson has too much sway and really wanted his guy here, or… it’s not backup money. FLORIO! ?

4:00 p.m.: Here comes. Adam Schefter reports Chase Daniel signed a three-year, $21 million deal with $12 million guaranteed with the Eagles. ?

3:42 p.m.: Easy fella:

?
3:40 p.m.: ?

3:37 p.m.: LIKE DAT:

?

3:29 p.m.: HOLY COW– Ian Rappppppppppppppopopopopoports the Eagles will sign former Texans guard Brandon Brooks to a five-year, $40 million deal (me thinks much of that isn’t guaranteed). Brooks was the Texans’ third round pick in 2012 and is only 26. He started all but four games over the last three seasons. ?

2:26 p.m.: Mike Florio, throwing gasoline on a fire that doesn’t even exist, mentions that Sam Bradford’s contract is structured as such that the Eagles could trade him if they wanted:

Per a source with knowledge of the deal, the first $5.5 million installment of Bradford’s $11 million signing bonus isn’t due until March 18, 2016. The second is due on or before September 1, 2016. So the Eagles have yet to pay Bradford a penny; they could transfer his entire contract to a new team.

He goes on to say that he’s not reporting a trade will happen, but that it could. Kinda agree with Les here:

?
1:53 p.m.: Jimmy Kempski checks in, with words, and says that he heard Mark Sanchez failed his physical with the Eagles but Chip Kelly wanted him anyway. This is no surprise. There had been countless stories that Sanchez had sort of bottomed out and was basically considering retirement. Might be on his way back now. ☹

1:48 p.m.: Jeff McLane reports Rodney McLeod is “tough as shit”: Asked if Rodney McLeod was physical, the scout said: “He’s tough as shit. No fear.” ?

12:41 p.m.: Ian Rappopopopopoprt, who is leaving Adam Schefter in his dust today, reports that the Eagles have signed safety Rodney McLeod to a five-year deal. ?

12:11 p.m.: Chase Daniel likes Taylor Swift and his name is Chase. I like him.

?

12:10 p.m.: Jeff McLane reports the deal with Chase Daniel will be for three years. ⌚️

11:56 a.m.: Adam Schefter is reporting that the Eagles and Chase Daniel have agreed on a multi-year deal. Daniel will likely be the backup to Sam Bradford. Daniel and Pederson were with the Chiefs together and it has been rumored that Daniel could sign with the Eagles. Bro Mark Sanchez will, like, totally be released. Sweet. ?

11:39 a.m.: It’s being reported by just about everyone now that the Eagles-Dolphins trade will move the Eagles up from 13 to 8 in the first round and that’s it. ?

11:28: Oh yeah, the DeMarco Murray trade. Geoff Mosher reports that the reported trade which will send DeMarco Murray to the Titans will include the Eagles and Titans swapping fourth round picks, moving the Eagles up to the start of the fourth round. I’m cool with that. I would’ve humped a staple gun if it meant getting rid of Murray. This is even better. ☀️

11:21 a.m.: I was getting some shit on Twitter for not having sexual relations with the deal, so I reaffirmed my LIKING of the trade. The best response:

?

11:07 a.m.: My hot take: Happy with the trade. Getting rid of Maxwell is a terrific move. I still worry Kiko will turn out to be a good player. Moving up from 13 to 8 is fair, but it’s not that big of a deal unless there’s a player the Eagles are targeting. Original report had them swapping first round picks with the Dolphins and getting a fourth round pick. That would’ve been something. ?

10:58 a.m.: We haven’t heard any more details about the return haul, but it seems the Eagles and Dolphins will swap first round picks, with the Eagles moving up from 13 to 8. That doesn’t greatly excite me, but still, net positive for the Eagles here. ?

10:48 a.m.: Maxwell’s agent, whose avatar is a picture of him sitting in a private jet because that’s not douchey or anything, says it’s good to go:

Voila_Capture 2016-03-09_10-48-37_AM

?
10:44 a.m.: Howard Eskin and Eliot Shorr-Parks both are reporting the trade WILL go through, but Les Bowen says “So, I’m told Maxwell remains in Miami. Dolphins docs will anesthetise joint, put it under stress, evaulate joint stability.” ?

10:07 a.m.: This is not a good sign for fans of this trade: Omar Kelly is reporting that the Dolphins have asked cornerback Brent Grimes, whom they planned to release ostensibly in favor of Byron Maxwell, if he’d be willing to stay. Just yesterday, Grimes’ wife, Miko, who is a whole bag of crazy – but the kind of crazy I can get behind – went SCORCHED EARTH, MOTHERFUCKER on essentially the entire league. We’ll see how this strategy pays off. Either way, the Dolphins asking Grimes and his loony significant other to stick around is a bad sign for this trade going through. ☹?

10:00 a.m.: Armando Salguero, whose name is the most Miami sports reporter name of all-time and is only lacking a tilde and a loud shirt, says the Dolphins are waiting on word from team docs, though presumably it doesn’t take a medical degree to realize there’s a problem when your target has a toast head and can’t do a simple phys ed maneuver. ?

9:56 a.m.: Miami reporter Omar Kelly reports that the deal between the Eagles and Dolphins is “falling apart” and that the Dolphins are working on a Plan B… which might have the unintended side-effect of making them puke for three days. ?

9:50 a.m.: Our first bits of news include: Oh My God The Trade Might Be Dead and Byron Maxwell Continues to Screw Us. The full text of those two posts:

Last night I had written up an entire post based on a Benjamin Allbright report that the Eagles trade sending Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins would include the two teams swapping first round picks (and the Eagles moving up five spots) and a fourth round pick coming this way. But, the report was loosely sourced and no one else was reporting it, so I never posted.

Good news: The report appears to have been accurate– at lease the part about the first rounders.

Bad news: It might not happen.

Who would’ve thought it would be an injury to Maxwell, and not Alonso, that might hold things up. Smh.

Stay tuned.

UPDATEESPN has more:

As of Tuesday night, sources said the Dolphins considered the trade dead because of their medical staff’s concern over Maxwell’s injury, which forced him to finish the 2015 season on injured reserve. If they go through with the trade, the Dolphins would be inheriting a huge contract for Maxwell, who signed a six-year, $63 million deal with the Eagles as a free agent last season.

Wonder how BM is feeling now. Seems he forgot the ?????????:

This is wholly unbelievable.

Les Bowen is reporting that the reason for the holdup in the Eagles’ trade with the Dolphins is just the pesky little fact that the centerpiece of the deal, human slice of overdone toast Byron Maxwell, who sprained his SC joint and missed two games at the end of the season with what he described to be a minor injury, CAN’T DO PUSHUPS (!!!):

Of course, that didn’t stop Maxwell from tweeting a series of Emoji announcing his trip to Miami or from updating his Twitter:

First time he has been a step ahead of anything… and it might not even matter.
