In the lawsuit vs. Marriott Hotels over the peeping tom video secretly shot in one of their rooms, Erin Andrews was just awarded $55 million by a jury. Andrews’ video, for which Marriott has been found liable, was viewed a reported 16.8 million times. Andrews and her lawyers were asking for $75 million, and requested the court “consider multiplying each person who’s viewed the video — an estimated 16.8 million people — by $1 and adding on future views.” As it stands now, Andrews receives the settlement for her privacy being violated to the highest order, or roughly $3.27 for every time that video was viewed. Seems low when you look at it that way. However, reportedly half of the amount is owed by the stalker, who’s in jail. So she likely won’t see a sizable chunk of it.
