Free agent corner Leodis McKelvin is visiting with the team today and Ian Rapppopopopopopoprt thinks a deal could be imminent.

Let’s get to know him.

McKelvin was drafted 11th overall in 2008 by the Bills. In his eight year career, all with Buffalo, McKelvin has 13 interceptions, 317 combined tackles, one interception return for a TD (in 2008), and four return touchdowns (three punt, one kickoff). He landed on Pro Football Focus’ second team All NFL in 2012 and was named first team All NFL in 2008 by the Sporting News. He caught the injury bug and hasn’t played a full season since 2011, but averaged about 12 games per season since. SB Nation’s Baltimore Ravens site hyped up his potential signing an “Ozzie Newsome type” and said, although he’s already 30, he “brings speed and playmaking ability to the table.” Baltimore Beatdown also thinks he can play the outside, slot, and could “potentially excel” when big plays are needed. Rotoworld had McKelvin ranked around average for most of his playing time last year, before playing a handful of above average games to end the season.

But above all that, he seems to acknowledge his mistakes. According to his Wiki page, his home was once vandalized after he fumbled a kick return with a lead, 2:06 left on the clock, on the 30-yard line. That lead to the Bills losing to the Patriots on Monday Night Football. Two teenagers spray painted obscenities and “take a knee” on his house, but McKelvin didn’t press charges. At the very least, his sense of accountability puts him above Byron Maxwell.

UPDATE: And look at that, it’s a done deal.
