This is incredible. Kind of awesome. But also kind of sad, too.

The Phillies are offering up a Spring Pass— $50 for a ticket to all 12 April home games excluding the Home Opener:

Purchase up to six (6) passes, so if you wish to sit with family and friends, be sure to purchase all your passes in one transaction. Please note, Spring Pass tickets cannot be forwarded.

If you haven’t already done so, download the free MLB.com Ballpark app and create (or login to a pre-existing) an MLB.com account using the same e-mail address you purchased the passes with.

On the day of the game, you will see a barcode for your Standing Room Only Ticket(s) in the Tickets section of the MLB.com Ballpark app. This barcode will allow entry into Citizens Bank Park. (Please note, your barcodes cannot be forwarded, so your entire party will need to arrive together at the same entrance gate.)

Approximately 15 minutes before each game, a text message will be sent to your mobile device containing an upgrade to your reserved seating location. Seating locations include, but are not limited to the following sections: Terrace, Terrace Deck, Pavilion, Pavilion Deck and Outfield.

If you are attending the game, click the link in the text message and accept the seat upgrade through the MLB.com Ballpark app.

Setting aside the obvious oh my how the mighty have fallen I used to have to get standing room for April Mets games reaction, this is actually pretty cool, and a novel concept that wouldn’t be possible without technology. The Phillies will text you your seat location 15 minutes before a game, like you’re selling your premium-grade meth to Gustavo Fring. Yo, 432, row 6, seat 1. 15 minutes or the deal is off. If I didn’t have a three-month-old here and all the craziness that goes with it, I’d absolutely consider doing this (the ticketing thing, not becoming a drug lord).

Good deal.
