The roundup:

To show you how generally unimportant the Sam Bradford signing was, it didn’t even garner a mention in Peter King’s MMQB this morning. Yet here in Philly it dominated the news cycle for a week. What is interesting, however, is this nugget from Mike Florio that the Redskins were scared the Eagles might pursue Kirk Cousins:

It seemed to be a coincidence that the Eagles signed quarterback Sam Bradford to a new contract not long after Washington applied the franchise tag to quarterback Kirk Cousins. It may not have been.

Per a league source, Washington was concerned that the Eagles would make a run at Cousins, if Washington either didn’t tag him at all, or if Washington applied only the transition tag.

Florio goes on to list all the reasons why this may have been a real thing.

It’s time for the Philly Flower Show…

Here’s a picture of Billy Jean King and Abby Wambach at Women’s Day:

Noble, worthwhile goal. But, listening to Wambach on Bill Simmons’ podcast a few weeks ago lament the gap in pay between women’s soccer players and NFL and NBA stars was laughable. She had a legit beef about the World Cup men’s winners getting paid many multiples more than the female winners – especially when you consider that in the US the women’s team got the better ratings – but there’s a major, major disconnect between the push for equality in women’s sports and the market as a whole. The NFL and NBA generate exponentially more in revenue than women’s soccer– or hockey and swimming, for that matter. Comparing the salaries makes for a nice equality pitch, but it doesn’t hold any weight. Now, there may be a whole systemic reason for why women’s sports don’t approach that level of interest, but there’s no harm in stating the obvious that, generally speaking (though perhaps excluding women’s soccer, which in many cases is more compelling than men’s, at least in this country), women’s sports are simply not as entertaining as men’s given the fact that male athletes are bigger, faster and stronger. We watch sports to see incredible feats of athleticism. Watching a WNBA player drain threes is fun, but watching Steph Curry drain threes, dribble behind his back, spin into the lane, all at warp speed, will always be more compelling than what the WNBA can offer. There are a whole lot of people who wish they had the physical gifts that professional football and basketball players possess to earn the kind of money available to them in the NFL and NBA, but it’s not just women– it’s most men, too. Wambach comparing her salary to JJ Watt’s, which she did on Simmons’ podcast, is not comparing apples to apples. Not even close.

NY Mag headline: Sanders Tells Clinton: ‘Excuse Me, I’m Talking’ in Arguably Sexist Debate Exchange. As reader (@frmrda) put it, this is why Donald Trump is winning. People are tired of overly PC BS. Granted, this take from NY Mag is ultra extreme, but how anyone could interpret a heated debate exchange – especially considering the Hilary just kept talking over Bernie and Anderson Cooper – is absurd.

Still trying to figure out if he got the Panther in the furballs:

Excellent dad reflexes here – it turns out they come free with the addition of a child – and screw all the assholes who responded to this, presumably on their phones, yelling that the kid SHOULD GET OFF THE PHONE HAR HAR HAR. Get over it. Kids use tech. We all use tech. Stop pretending phones are ruining society. It’s the way of the world. My kid is already popping bubbles and swiping high-contract images on the iPad, which is providing him way more stimulation and learning than the mobile that plays the same three songs allllllllllll night long WHY MUST ITS PLAYLIST BE SO LIMITED. I’d recommended just never sitting this close at a baseball game, phone or no phone. Too dangerous. Unless there’s a net in front of you.
