Instant thoughts, from my iPhone, slightly buzzed:

This is unbelievable. I have no way to compute this. As a Philly and Villanova fan, there is no point of reference. Don’t know how to process this sort of win. 40+ points– the biggest margin of victory in Final Four history. 71% shooting percentage– the second highest in FF history, to Villanova in 1985. They held Buddy Hield to 9 points and no shots in the final 13 minutes. A 67-point swing against their loss to Oklahoma in December– the largest of this millennium. Oklahoma lost by a combined 40 points in their seven losses this season. They lost by more than that to Villanova.

I don’t get it. Villanova shot lights out. Oh those soft rims! But further, they continued to defend and rebound and scrap and dive and steal like maybe no team ever in the NCAA Tournament against that level of competition. To whom is this pleasure owed? SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT TO DO WITH THIS FEELING?

Now they’re probably going to play North Carolina in the National Championship, and they’re probably going to be the favorite. Explain that to me. I don’t know how this works.

This is just incredible. I used to cheer for the walk-ons at the Pavilion against UMBC. Tonight I cheered for them to get in the Final Four in front of George H W Bush and Joe Biden. I’m going to have to come to terms with George H W Bush’s presence in every shot of Nova’s bench tonight. I don’t hate it, I just have to understand it. I used to go to NIT games, I used to park in the same lot as Jay Wright. In two days, he’ll coach Villanova in the National Championship and I expect them to win. This is a weird feeling.

More tomorrow.
