Just ONE DAY after sitting down to talk with Zach Lowe on the Lowe Post podcast about the process and the Sixers’ future, Sam Hinkie has reportedly stepped down – or “been asked and/or made to” step down – from his positions as President and GM of the Sixers.

The timing is baffling as the Sixers just won a game, have a very big off-season for Hinkie (and Colangelo) to do something with multiple picks and cap dollars, and the news on Joel Embiid and Dario Saric seems good. It’s going to take some time to sort out what exactly happened here, but we’ll have more as it comes out.

UPDATE: In the least surprising news of all time, the Sixers are reportedly eyeing Bryan Colangelo for the new GM spot.

UPDATE 2: According to the full report from Marc Stein, it was moves to bring in Bryan Colangelo at or around Hinkie’s level that caused him to resign.
