JOEL EMBIID IS PLAYING A SPORT!

Over the weekend, local trainer Chuck Ellis posted (and then deleted) the above screenshot of his texts with Joel Embiid. We hadn’t heard where he was in his recovery since we heard rumors of him running with the whole team, so let’s put some context on this.

According to Max Rappaport, “Embiid reportedly started playing 2-on-2 around April 7 last year and would have played summer league if not for his setback.” At that point, Embiid was more removed from his surgery than he is now, so he’s actually about a month ahead of where he was last year. I wouldn’t bank on Embiid making his debut in Summer League, however, since the team will probably handle him with kid gloves.

Additionally, since Embiid is out very own Bigfoot or Lock Ness Monster, here’s some super-grainy footage of him playing tennis:

It’s going to be great when he finally hits the floor. I will not miss this.

UPDATE: He’s putting in work.
