Just as 2016 was winding down, Ice Cube and Roger Mason (resigning from the NBPA post he held) announced they were stating a 3-on-3 league called BIG3, where retired NBA players would face off against each other. The plan is for the league to launch this summer, with teams playing halfcourt games. There will be eight teams of five players, and one team will have Allen Iverson playing the role of player/coach.

According to the Vertical, “Iverson is scheduled to appear at a news conference in New York on Wednesday to discuss his part in the league’s summer launch.” Also involved with the league are Chauncey Billups, Kenyon Martin, Rashard Lewis, Jermaine O’Neal, Stephen Jackson and Jason Williams.

There’s no word on which cities are involved or how the schedule would work, but having AI coach and play would be damn near criminal if he doesn’t do so at least once in Philadelphia.
