Two goalie mask posts in two days? That’s gotta be some kind of record.

Eric Semborski was working at the Flyers Skate Zone in New Jersey one day in December. Later that night, he found himself suiting up for the enemy. Semborksi signed a tryout contract with the Blackhawks to be their emergency goalie for the night when goalie Corey Crawford needed an appendectomy. According to NHL.com, “With Rockford, its American Hockey League affiliate, preparing for a game in Grand Rapids, Michigan, there was no way to get a goaltender to Philadelphia for a 1 p.m. start. Chicago also had to pick a goaltender with no professional experience because of their NHL salary-cap situation.”

So the Flyers provided a list to the Blackhawks with Semborski’s name on it, and the former club team goalie and Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation coach got chosen. After the game he got a hat and a jersey and went on his way,

But the Blackhawks wanted to give him something more, so they made him a custom goalie mask. Here’s what the designer had to say:

Welcome Eric Semborski to the DarArt Squad. Eric is the young goalie who became a Blackhakws goalie for an evenning. It was the third of December last year when the Blackhawks and Flyers met. Chicago Blackhawks wanted to give Eric a present and memory after the game and they asked me if I could create a real Blackhawks mask for Eric. Eric and I started to brainstorm and we came up with a design plan. It is a true storyteller mask. On a distance it is a clean cut Blackhawks mask, and when you come closer you till discover a lot of sweet details. Such as the date of the magic day, and also the skyline of both cities. On the top is the logo of Temple University.

Now that is a cool mask.
