It’s finally Week 1. The season begins in Washington against the Redskins in an NFC East battle. Our predictions are after the jump:

Phil: The Eagles have lost five straight to Washington…and they’re favored on the road? The Eagles were 1-5 in games decided by six points or fewer in 2016…and they’re favored on the road? Mike Lombardi’s blindside cheap shot of Doug Pederson only bothered Eagles fans because Lombardi is nothing special himself, not because what he said was wrong. Redskins 24, Eagles 20.

Sean: The Redskins are a much better team than most give them credit for and are probably sick of being left for dead every time anyone discusses the NFC East. I also worry about this new look Eagles defense holding up against a top 5 offensive line and solid Redskins ground game. Having said that, the Redskins have won five straight over the Eagles and are due for letdown. Eagles 27, Redskins 21.

Chris: I think the Eagles will do fine on offense and against Kirk Cousins for the most part. The secondary will limit what Terrelle Pryor and Jordan Reed do. But Rob Kelley will give the Eagles’ defense nightmares once again. Their offensive line is sneaky good too. That will be the difference maker. Also keep an eye out for Jamison Crowder against Patrick Robinson in the slot. The losing streak to Washington continues. Redskins 38, Eagles 31.

Coggin: The Redskins win the “must-win” week 1 matchup against the Eagles. With the season officially over for the Birds, what do the Fanatic and WIP talk about for the rest of the year? 610-632.. Redskins 20, Eagles 17.

Tyler:  Carson Wentz proves he does not need the preseason and Alshon Jeffery makes an immediate impact on the offense as the Eagles set the tone in the NFC East. Eagles 27, Redskins 17.

Jim: Both offenses underwent a good deal of turnover at the skill positions in the offseason, but the Birds appeared much more cohesive in exhibition play. The preseason rarely reveals real tea leaves for the regular campaign, but Washington’s struggles in the passing game could prove prescient for these first few weeks. The Eagles’ pass rush will be the difference, as they can disrupt any chemistry Kirk (Kurt) Cousins can conjure. Someone please block Ryan Kerrigan. Eagles 27, Redskins 24.

Tim: The Eagles finally find a way to slow down Kirk Cousins (you like that!?), Nelson Agholor redeems himself with a TD catch, and the Eagles start off the season 1-0. I’ll be interested to see how the Eagles’ improved and intact offensive line performs. I also hope that a strong pass rush counteracts the lack of depth in the secondary. If not, we could be in for a long year on the defensive side of the ball. Eagles 27, Redskins 21.

Bob: The perception is that Kirk Cousins isn’t a good NFL quarterback. That’s wrong. You don’t just trip into 4900+ passing yards by accident. Still, the Redskins don’t run or stop the run very well. The Eagles do just enough to outlast Washington and start 1-0 in one possession games, a year after they were 1-6 in such contests. Eagles 27, Redskins 24.

Kyle: The Redskins’ defense isn’t good and the Eagles should be able to put up some points. With neither team having a great run game, there could be a lot of passing, which should prolong the game and give each team extra scoring opportunities. Eagles are better, the line has moved in their direction, and it’s a “must-win,” right? Eagles 30, Redskins 24.
